Terms and Conditions - The Legal Meet (Sri Lanka)

The Legal Meet is a technology platform that facilitates connections between qualified Attorneys-at-Law and potential clients.

The Platform is not a law firm. We do not provide legal advice, and our staff members are not acting as your attorneys.

Use of the Platform, including browsing, messaging, or booking, does not create an attorney-client relationship between the user and the Platform.

An attorney-client relationship is only established once you and the specific lawyer you selected through the Platform enter into a separate, direct agreement.

All lawyers registered on the Platform must be enrolled in the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka and hold a valid license to practice law.

In accordance with the Supreme Court (Conduct of and Etiquette for Attorneys-at-Law) Rules 1988, this Platform serves as a medium for information exchange and contact. It is not an advertising tool or a lawyer referral service that "vends" legal services.

Platform Service Charge: The Legal Meet charges a non-refundable service fee for the use of its digital infrastructure, maintenance, and booking facilitation. This fee is separate from any legal fees charged by the attorney.

Legal Fees: The professional fees for legal consultation or representation must be agreed upon independently between the client and the lawyer.

All electronic transactions are governed by the Electronic Transactions Act No. 19 of 2006 of Sri Lanka.

User Cancellations: If a user cancels a confirmed appointment, no refund will be issued for the Platform Service Charge or any prepaid booking fees, as the digital slot was reserved and administrative costs were incurred.

Lawyer No-Show: If the selected lawyer fails to attend a scheduled appointment, a refund or a reschedule will be provided in accordance with our internal refund policy.

No refunds will be issued due to user delays, provision of incorrect information, or dissatisfaction with the legal outcome.

We ensure the protection of your data in compliance with the Personal Data Protection Act No. 9 of 2022.

Legal Privilege: Communications between the client and the lawyer are protected by legal privilege. Platform administrators do not monitor, read, or intercept these confidential communications.

Users are solely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of their account passwords and login credentials.

Lawyers reserve the right to decline any case or consultation based on a "Conflict of Interest" or their professional judgment.

The Platform does not guarantee the accuracy of advice provided by the lawyers or the outcome of any legal matter.

Use of the Platform for illegal activities, submitting forged documents, or attempting to influence/coerce lawyers is strictly prohibited.

Any attempt to offer or solicit bribes will result in immediate account termination and may be reported to the authorities.

The Platform shall not be held liable for delays or failures resulting from technical glitches, internet outages, or scheduled maintenance.

We are not liable for any missed court dates or legal deadlines resulting from the user's reliance on the technology.

These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka.

Any disputes arising from the use of this Platform shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
